I finally got around to playing with Codex yesterday and it's amazing!
I'm on version 26.325 and using the default model: GPT-5.4.
It's been completely free to use so far. It says 85% under rate limits so maybe I'll get cut off soon:

It reminds me a lot of what @Dave Hanft was describing to us a while back. I believe he was using Claude.
You just tell it to build you an app and it actually works. I have this sort of half-built side project at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-people (it's what inspired https://github.com/bostonopen/people by the way) and I'm starting over from scratch, letting Codex write it for me. It's going quite well. Maybe I'll start a separate topic about these "people" apps.
Codex only made one, what I'd call, mistake, so far, where I had to check the console to see why the HTML wouldn't load. But then I just copy and pasted the error and it fixed it:
![]()
Still hacking away with Codex. I'm down from 85% to 46% left until April 10th but I got the app far enough for my needs, I think. If anyone is interested in the code, I pushed it to https://github.com/gdcc/people.dataverse.org
It's so much fun!
