Hi all, great to be here! I would like to contribute to the https://bostonopen.github.io website - how do I get started?
A message was moved here from #general > backlog by Gabor Szabo.
Hi! First, bostonopen.github.io redirects to bostonopen.dev so they are equivalent. We usually call it bostonopen.dev
There's a button a the top that says "view on GitHub". If you click it, you'll be taken to https://github.com/bostonopen/bostonopen.github.io where you are very welcome to create a pull request.
Hi all, I made our GitHub pretty :star_struck:
Thanks!
I made a couple tweaks: https://github.com/bostonopen/.github/commit/dca4bfbecc4bf3a45d8f89e6eec648ad406db6eb
I'm wondering about "Connect with fellow developers in the Boston area"
It works fine for us, but would it make non-developers feel a bit excluded? What other groups could we include?
designers?
community managers?
QA?
project managers?
users?
I thought it’s a dev meetup  - open to having anyone though
Well, we do have "dev" in the name
But what if someone shows up who's like "I love Linux! I even brought my laptop to show some cool stuff". That's awesome. They don't have to be a developer.
I changed it to "enthusiasts and developers" https://github.com/bostonopen/.github/commit/beedfa52f3e1dd3f67d5550a1412d6b8c4cc58b7
QR code for our website
qrcode_bostonopen.dev.png
Nice! Works fine.
Where will it go?
It goes to https://bostonopen.dev
What's the usecase for a qr code on the website for people who are already on the website?
Sharing with friends I guess?
I guess we can all put it on our phones for when we're talking up the meetup. :grinning:
Group pic definitely livens up the home page
I'm glad you think so! I picked the one with the best gender balance so far, I think. See #boston > gender imbalance
I added a favicon to our website: https://github.com/bostonopen/bostonopen.github.io/commit/2777ae81049767fad1dcdf44c257900666b5de21
