When and where should we meet for September?
Would you be okay with the Bow Market Afternoon Hack this month?
I'm gonna throw out some ideas in that topic.
Sure!
How do others feel about the idea?
Who prefers a normal meetup?
Okay let's go for Bow Market Afternoon Hack.
Sept 7
Sept 14
Sept 21
Sept 28
We have one particularly interested party on Signal who can't do 14 so I'm leaning against that.
Oh and time. Let's say 2PM? Negotiable if people have particular requests.
Sure, 2pm is fine.
Also, I just updated https://bostonopen.dev to say we're meeting at Bow Market. Should be fun!
21st is winning rn. I'll call it within a day or two.
Okay let's go with 21st!
Sounds good! I just updated the website. Please feel free to make further edits.
The 21st is coming right up! Let's ping everyone.
Please give a  if you're at least thinking about coming! https://bostonopen.dev has the details, but here they are:
In September we’re meeting at Bow Market for some afternoon hacking! Optionally, you can RSVP in the discussion thread. There are several options for a bite, and there’s coffee and beer at Remnant Brewing!
Bring a laptop. All you need are git, ssh, and a browser. We’ll be working on “a better Porchfest map”. See the discussion thread for details on the project. (Or you can just come and hang out!)

Bow Market is a zoo today, with the Marshmallow Fluff festival and all

I was just told about this the other day. Thankfully it did not rain yesterday, today was supposed to be the raid date!
You went to the fest?
On purpose?
Ha, yes, my daughter and I walked around a bit. Here's the website: https://www.flufffestival.com
It's funny, we also saw a sign for the rodeo but there's only so much you can do! https://www.bostonrodeo.com
The main thing we went to yesterday was cliff diving: https://www.icaboston.org/events/red-bull-cliff-diving-world-series/
Anyway, yes, good thing that fluff rain date isn't happening!
See this is why I was relieved to leave the city once upon a time. Too many things to do.
Heading out! See you soon! :bike:
We're just inside Remnant. Come inside and turn left.
Pics!

What a great event. Thanks for organizing, @Dan!
I got doored biking home but I'm ok.
Holy crap
Yeah. I landed in the middle of the street but nothing was coming, thankfully. My arm hurts where I got kind of stabbed by the door but it could be worse.
You cool with me adding it as a repo to the bostonopen account? I may have the ability already.
Yep, you're an owner. Go for it!
Hope youre doing ok, @Philip Durbin and thanks for organizing the recent event @Dan!
Can you share the git repo info? Would be great to see the latest!
Yeah, I'm fine. At work today I asked a guy if he wants to see my new tattoo and rolled up my sleeve to show off my bruise.
Also, if you switch to master and pull the latest, you'll see your contribution, which was great.
And also you can look at the site, it's still there on master. http://66.228.40.225/master/ The light items are venues that don't have any more shows for the day. (It makes me a little nervous, it looks like it would be confusing).
I want to try playing with the colors.
We should probably switch from master to main. (Not that I've pushed for this yet at my day job.)
I'm not a fan of that myself.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing
What? Switching to main? Seems harmless since we're just starting. And it's the default when you init a repo in recent releases of git. Or if you create a new repo on GitHub.
Yeah I think the switch was more about an ideological pressure campaign than "master" actually upsetting anyone.
Yeah, probably. But who knows. Maybe someone was upset.
Anyway, with that rant aside, I'll happily go by the group's standard if it's on the group Github account.
Our other three repos all use main so thanks.
I'm pretty excited about having our first project! We'll have to post a note to #boston > Boston Open Dev Project once it's up.
Or we could call the default branch "develop" and use "main" for releases, git-flow style. That's what we do at work.
@Dan posted a nice write up about our afternoon hack: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/danielkrol_last-sunday-i-organized-a-small-afternoon-activity-7378245073555050496-m4lF
