When should we meet in March?
Maybe 3/24 (if we're keeping with roughly monthly)?
Sure! Works for me.
I just updated https://bostonopen.dev with that date, Sunday the 24th.

Not a huge crowd visible here
I posted on Mastodon. A couple reposts so far.
Also on Saturday I'm going to something called Coffee and Code in Boston. I think there will be an announcement segment. If there is I'll mention this meeting, maybe we can snag a couple of those.
Nice. They did have an announcement segment some months ago and I mentioned our lil' meetup.
Oh okay. Do you go often.
?
Hmm. I think I went the one time. It was summer. I went kayaking afterwards (the put in is nearby).
I just sent the SMS reminders before it gets too late. On to email reminders now.
Phew. Done.
4 or 5 people at Coffee and Code have come up to ask me about the meetup! Mostly student types interested in learning.
One guy José plans to show, most others want to come in the future.
Most can't make it tomorrow
Maybe it would be worth putting on the website that newcomers are welcome. A lot of people seem worried that they'd be out of place.
Closer to 7 people now, wow. Hopefully we don't get overwhelmed.
Also a guy who wants to help on my project. A guy who is generally interested in contributing to open source.
Same guy actually had seen our website before. He may come tomorrow.
Oh! Yes! We should definitely make sure we communicate that newcomers are welcome. Do you want to make a pull request? Or just fix it?
I'll see if I can do it.
Oh I wasn't precise. By newcomers I meant people who are new to FOSS and want to learn more.
Okay lmk
Thanks for https://github.com/bostonopen/bostonopen.github.io/pull/11 !
Merged!
Great seeing everyone! 7 people came. I updated the website and started a thread for next month's meetup: #boston > 2024-04 meetup
